The first hold king in his 40s... "I'll run until I'm 45"

Noh Kyung-eun, a right-hander of SSG Landers, will be 40 next year. Most of them are at an age when they are preparing for their second life after leaving the field. However, "retirement" is a long way off for Noh. He became the oldest hold king this year with eight wins, five losses and 38 holds with an ERA of 2.90. After the end of the season, he became a free agent and signed a two-plus-year contract with SSG for a total of 2.5 billion won (2.5 million U.S. dollars). Noh won the title for the first time in his career on April 26.

-How did it feel to receive the award for the first time in 22 years.

"Kim Do-young, who was born when she debuted, won the MVP award. Seeing a young player receive such a big award made me reflect on myself. I went up to the podium and my father was sitting there. The moment I said, 'Now I'm saying hello,' I got emotional."토토사이트

-He signed an FA contract when he was 40 years old.

"It's my second FA contract, but it's actually the same as the first one. It was as if I didn't have my first FA contract with Lotte. I had a full year off at the time, so it was important to play baseball again. This time, if you achieve the option without playing for two years, you will automatically be guaranteed the third year."

-Some people ask if I'm retired.

"When I visit a clothing store or restaurant after a long time, the first thing I ask is, 'What are you doing now? Are you retired?' You'll be surprised if you say you're still running. My goal is to throw until I reach 45."

-I heard that I actually almost retired a few times.

"I spent a long time playing in and out of the first and second teams at Doosan. After meeting Kim Jin-wook and coaches Cho Kye-hyun and Chung Myung-won, he belatedly learned about baseball and won double-digit wins from 2012 to 2013. However, as a number of events happened around 2015 (he broke his jaw during the off-season training, and his mother passed away as he could get better), he tried to quit baseball. He changed his mind and was traded to Lotte instead of retiring. After the 2018 season, he became an FA from Lotte, but negotiations collapsed. He had to take a rest throughout the 2019 season. To maintain his pitching sense, he pitched 100 times every five days, holding out for a year. He returned to Lotte, but he threw so poorly. Eventually, he was released after the 2021 season."

"As soon as it was released, I got a call from SSG. Kim Won-hyung, the former coach who I met with when I was with Lotte, seemed to appreciate it. As I came to SSG, I took good care of myself to finish my baseball career. I think that's working."

-He said his body doesn't lie.

"I trained so hard that I was rumored to be in middle and high school. It's not like a planned Otani mandaratuses, but I wrote down the exercise and exercise amount I had to do in my notebook and tried to keep it everyday. But I started to neglect exercising after joining the pro league. Whenever I have time, I tell my juniors that I will succeed even if I exercise two-fifths of the time I was in high school."

-Do you have your own routine.

"I thoroughly observed the days when I exercise and the days when I don't. On an exercise day, I went on an expedition to the provincial area and came back to Incheon at 2-3 o'clock, and then went home after exercising. Then the next day, my body feels light. On the day of throwing the ball, I only did aerobic and simple reinforcement exercises to prepare for the next game, and on the day of consecutive competitions, I sweated out with aerobic exercise and only lightly did upper body weight. There are many other routines, and they tell the juniors about their experiences as they are. My diet is mainly vegetarian, and I eat protein properly. I once did a carnivore bulk-up when I was at Lotte, but my body was booming, but the ball speed was less than 140km, so I immediately folded it. I have been doing vegetarian meals steadily since Lotte days."

-Is there a goal you want to achieve more?

"You have to aim far and high. This season's last game speed was 149 kilometers per hour. If the speed is 145 kilometers in three years, I will try for two more years. We have 600 games to 100 holds to win, but if we keep our conditions and luck follow, we can achieve it within three years. I want to aim to play in 700 games while playing until I reach 45."
